Before bed most nights, McKenzie gets to read or have a few books read to her. Tonight, she didn't want to go to bed and she was throwing a bit of a fit. I said pick two and she said NO, I want three, four, five, six books.
I said again pick two now or I'm shutting off the light and you are going to bed. So she hastily grabbed from the shelf saying one, two. And with a big grin she hands me two, three book box sets.
All I could do is laugh with her since she grabbed them so quick and I figured since she was smart enough to find a way to grab only two from the shelf to make six, she deserved to have them.

Grandma's birthday party
Sunday night while sitting at the dinner table for grandma's birthday dinner, McKenzie sang her ABC song throughout the meal. When she was done eating she held her hands up like she does when she is ready to be cleaned up and said:
A-B-C-D, I'm a mess.
A-B-C-D, I'm a mess.

More and more and more
We were driving to dance and out of the blue McKenzie says, "Are there toys at Target?" I said, "Yes, sweetie, Target has toys." Surprised, she says, "More?" I told her that there were a lot of toys at Target. She says, "We should go there. We can get some. We can get more and more." I didn't say anything. But, McKenzie went on. She says, "We can get one, two, three, four, six, seven more." I said, "More what?" She says, "Toys." So I asked for what.
She says plainly, "Just to have. I won't play with them."
Riiiiight ...

Not in my face ...
The other night I announced it was bath time. I told McKenzie that her baby brother was going to get his bath first and then it was her turn.
She was instantly excited because that meant she got to help give him a bath. Well, we get into the bathroom and I start changing Britton's diaper. Turns out, it was a very messy diaper. McKenzie jumps back and says, "Eeewww, that's poopy" in her usual exaggerated tone. Then, she says as she's taking a few steps back, "Don't let the poop fly in my face."
I assured her the poop would not fly in her face. However, only after the diaper was safely in the Diaper Genie, did she want to help with the bath again.
Apparently, in McKenzie's world, poop has the ability to take flight.

Do you wanna party?
We got home from Minneapolis last night and picked up McKenzie at grandma's. Because she couldn't be with us in the cities, we stopped and picked up a present for her.
We got the kids bathed and ready for bed and went downstairs to give McKenzie her present. It was a tent (for her to have a permanent fort) and an expandable tunnel for her to crawl into her "fort." And, she loved it.
After getting it all set up, McKenzie crawled into it and Blake crawled in as well. McKenzie then says, "Do you wanna party?"
Party? Wow ... she's going to be a wild one.

The sun loves me
McKenzie likes to have conversations with things almost every day as we're driving home from daycare. The other day she says to the sun, "Do you love me, sun? ... I love you." She giggles and says, "Do you want to get in our car and come home with me? (pause, as if she's waiting for a response) OK. We can have fruit snacks when we get home." She then says, "Mom, the sun's going to come home with us and have fruit snacks."
WOW, really?!
WOW, really?!
With a rainbow
Another classic revisited: From Facebook post, Sept. 16
It was raining the other day and McKenzie wanted to play on her swing set. "Mom, you need to stop the rain," she said. I said, "How do I stop the rain, hon?" "With a rainbow," she said. So I asked, "Do you have a rainbow?" "I will buy one when I get big," she said then went to her room to play. oooooookay :-)

It's not a deal
A classic revisited: From a Facebook post, Sept. 24
So, Blake was on the phone last night with a friend and McKenzie and I were doing board puzzles, which she LOVES! Blake was telling his friend how much McKenzie likes doing puzzles. She turns to me and says, "Whatever, it's not a deal, mommy," as she shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes. I said, "Do you mean it's not a big deal?" She says, "Yeah, it's not a big deal." ... That kid cracks me up.

Licorice
McKenzie loves chocolate licorice ... Understandable since she is her mother's daughter. As we pulled into the driveway after daycare yesterday, she starts asking if she can have some when we get inside. I told her I didn't know if we had any. She goes on to tell me and I quote, "At daycare, kids want to come home with me and eat licorice at the table."
Apparently, she's now making friends by bribing them with licorice. Really though, who can fault her for that?

New version of an old song
On the ride home from grandma and grandpa's tonight.
... now I know your ABC's, next time I will sing with you.
posted by dad.
I think the whole song went something like this ... "A, B, C, D, E, F, G, kelmno, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X and Y and Z. Now I kinow your ABC's, next time I will sing with you." ...

Oct. 1 Tickle me
After approximately 2 minutes of tickling at her request. "That was a good tickle."

"Cool"
McKenzie and I got in the car last night to rush to get to her dance class. Yes, we're ALWAYS in a rush to get there. Anyway, though she knew where we were going, I still got the question. "Mom, where are we going?" I said, "We're going to dance, honey, you already knew that." She says, "Oh yeah. YAAAAAY," she yells. Then says, "Mom, dance is cool, right?" What? Cool? Where did that come from and why on earth would a toddler be at all concerned with what's cool? I had to refrain from the lecture. For crying out loud, the child still drinks bath water. Instead, I said "Yes, honey, dance is cool."
